Omaha native Sue Wilson received a BSN in nursing from Creighton University in 1975 specializing in pediatrics. Next she earned her certification for massage from Universal College of Healing Arts in 2004 and is licensed by the state of Nebraska. She is a Reiki Master and Healing Touch practitioner using the modalities of Swedish Massage, Hot Rock Therapy, Positional Release and Reflexology.

Sue says of her practice:

"As a nurse I have seen a person heal physically but still hurt emotionally and mentally. Western Medicine goes only so far. What I have learned through massage and energy work gives a person other tools to complement the journey to wholeness and balance. My intention is to provide a safe and holistic environment, using a variety of modalities, in an effort to support the natural healing process in each client."

The decision to seek therapeutic help is never an easy one. It often comes at a time when most people feel hopeless, vulnerable, frustrated and unable to cope without outside help and resources.

Recognizing this, I strive to provide my clients with the utmost respect and compassion, in a confidential and safe environment. I work together with my clients, in an authentic, collaborative way, to bring about positive changes that make sense in their life, according to their personal values.

I specialize in working with Individuals and Couples. My specialty is Sex Therapy, identifying and working with sexual dysfunctions that usually are responsible for preventing the joy and love in a healthy, intimate and loving relationship and marriage. Additionally I am a Gay Affirmative Therapist and have received Gay Affirmative training that has afforded me the opportunity to provide a special range of psychological knowledge, which challenges the traditional view, that homosexual desire and fixed homosexual orientations are pathological. I provide a healing affirmative stance in therapy to assist my clients with specific issues they may deal with.

I use a holistic model approach when working with clients to help them look at and consider all the components that can affect our sexual health, as well as, our emotional health. For example, relationships, love chemistry, communication, intimacy, sexual response, spirituality & religion, family and culture to name a few.

I am a member of the American Counseling Association (ACA); the Nebraska Counseling Association (NCA); the American Association of Sexuality Educators Counselors and Therapists (AASECT); and the Association of Private Practice Therapists (APPT).

My educational experiences and accomplishments include; a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Education degree from Iowa State University, a Master of Science (MS) in Education degree from University of Nebraska at Omaha, and a Master of Science (MS) degree in Counseling from University of Nebraska at Omaha. I am currently a provisionally licensed mental health practitioner, (PLMHP).

I have held the title of teacher, reading specialist, account executive in educational sales and now as a counselor and meditation trainer. I bring fifteen years of experience to The Adlerian Center in the education field that includes work specifically designed to help children, adolescents and their families.

My strong belief in preventative care and pro-active approaches in mental health counseling drove me to my current pursuit to attain meditation certification. My passion for meditation came first when I began to experience benefits personally. Research continues to report the many benefits that regular meditation delivers for those that continually practice. Some benefits reported after only 8 weeks of meditation have been improvements with:

  • Sleep Disorders
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • High Blood Pressure
  • Post -Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

As a therapist, I believe that Mind, Body and Soul need to be nourished and in balance for us to live our best, most authentic life. I also realize, as a mother, daughter, sister and wife that life is busy!! I believe a therapist is a teacher and coach that supplies the client with tools, skills and strategies that can be used throughout life and revisited as needed.
